I'm a new fan.
After listening to Cabell's CD, I've become her newest fan. I might even drive down to Pittsburgh in June to hear her perform!
A Good CD. And Summertime comes from an opera.
Sorry, just felt i had to respond to the person who said that Nicole Cabell should not do jazz. Summertime was not originally a jazz standard. It was originally written in that key for the OPERA Porgy and Bess. I liked this CD. She has a very warm tone and her voice is beautiful.
And now, a moment of silence, For Summertime
While her voice is very lovely, and well suited for opera, it is in no way appropriate for jazz. Summertime is one of my absolute favorite songs, but this rendition makes my heart hurt just a little. This song is one that does not traverse the different genres of music well, unless you are going to sing it in jazz style, just leave it alone. The rest of the album is quite charming, although I prefer the more pure concentrated soprano voice of Sumi Jo.
She did a really good job here. Brava! But... I just wish that this was recorded in a big hall so you could really hear how glorious and exiting voice could be!
Brilliant and Exhilarating!
Wow! One of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard! Ms. Cabell is an amazing talent who brings a fresh and exciting sound to each and every aria on this lovely collection of music. Her style is classy, her expression soulful and moving and her voice - GOLDEN! Buy the entire CD! You don't want to miss a single track!
Cabell Delivers Excellence
What an amazing album! Ms. Caball's warm, rich tone rings with the utmost vocal agility and technique--a truly standout singer. Some highlights are "O Mio Babbino Caro", "Ah, je veux vivre dans ce reve", "Quando m'en vo soletta", and "Summertime". The whole album is full of gems--buy the whole CD. I look forward to hearing more from Ms. Cabell.
